Being a basic recipe, many flavoring add-ins could be thrown in as well to make this dish have a different flavor profile. Make it more Italian with basil and parsley, spicier with chili powder or sweeter with the addition of some dates or molasses. Another vegetable such as cauliflower would be a great add-in option as well. Any left-overs are perfect on rice or, as my husband likes it, in a jaffle.
Beans Under Pressure is a quick and flavorful dish similar to baked beans. It can be made in in less than 20 minutes with the help of a pressure cooker (hence the name!). The ingredients are basic enough to whip up without much pre-planning while the few spices and canned tomatoes add the flavor and taste depth you crave.
