Being healthy can seem like an impossible task.
Too little time. Too much work. Fast food. Processed food. Dessert. It’s all so easy to slip into (unlike your skinny jeans).
So what we supposed to do? Make it work. Make it fit your goals and values like I did.
I love sweets. Most of the time, eating fruit is enough for me to satisfy me sweet tooth. But sometimes, I get a craving for unhealthy food like cookies, cake and ice cream.
That’s why I created Sugarless Sugar Cookies.
Really? A sugarless sugar cookie?
You got me. Technically, these aren’t sugarless sugar cookies. But! They are free of added and refined sugar of any kind.
That means no:
- Granulated sugar
- Coconut sugar
- Maple syrup
- Brown rice syrup
- Brown sugar
… and every other type of added sugar you can think of.
They’re even free of low/zero calorie sugar replacements like Splenda (for all you naturalists out there).
Where does the sweetness come from? Mangoes. When properly ripe, mangoes are intensely sweet. Sweeter than most fruits.
After I made these, I was surprised by how subtle the mango taste was. In fact, when I eat these, there’s no mango taste at all. You get all of the sweetness of the mangoes without the flavor of the mangoes.
Usually, that’s a bad thing. I love fruit and the taste of fruit. But for this recipe, it’s perfect. It gives you a neutral-flavored cookie dough. No need to worry if somebody doesn’t like the taste of mango. They won’t even notice it’s in there if you don’t tell them.
Don’t miss cookies because you want to be healthy. Instead, make healthy cookies, like Carob Cherub’s Sugarless Sugar cookies. There’s absolutely no refined sugar in these cookies. They’re simple to make and guilt-free to eat.
Vegan and free of added salt, sugar, oil, soy, gluten, nuts and seeds

Yields 8 Cookies
- 3 c blended mangoes
- 6 c rolled oats
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
Preheat oven and cookie sheet to 350° F (180° C).
Use a food processor or blender to create a fine oat flour with the rolled oats.
Combine the mangoes, oats and spices together in a bowl to create a dough.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and form the dough into round disks that are between 1/4 and 1/2 inch (6-13 mm) thick.
Place the cookies on a non-stick cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
Enjoy immediately or at room temperature. Store cookies in an airtight container or bag in the fridge for up to 1 week, or freeze.
Tip: Want a warm sugar cookie? Just heat it in the toaster for a few minutes.
