12 Fashion Tips for a Flat Stomach (Guest Post)
Hey, it’s Sara. I’m happy to introduce Elyse, the author of this guest post. She’s writing about 12 fashion tips for a flat stomach. These flat stomach tips will be helpful at whatever phase of your journey you’re in. Even after losing 70 pounds, sometimes I still worry about my stomach looking flat!
It’s officially summer! The temperature is heating up, meaning it’s time to shed those spring layers, and this season we’re going to shed the dread that comes with this blistery time of year.
You know, the feeling of not being “summer body ready?” It haunts us every time summer rolls around. But in reality, what does “summer body ready” actually mean?
Rather than concocting ways to quickly and un-healthfully lose the extra pounds still lingering from winter hibernation habits, we’re taking a more strategic path towards feeling our very best this summer no matter our current size.
As a fashion blogger, I’ve learned a thing or two about working smarter with how to dress my natural curves rather than fighting them. Just for you, I’ve assembled 12 summer looks that are guaranteed to make your figure appear more svelte so you can show the world just how sexy and beautiful you truly are!
Ladies it’s time to love our skin, no matter what form it’s currently in. Let’s celebrate our bodies by dressing them in ways that flatters and makes us really “feel ourselves.”
1. Flowy Midi Skirt

Nothing says light and airy for summer like a flowing midi skirt, especially when in a full floral pattern. This feminine delight of a skirt is perfect for masking a mid-section or hip and upper thigh areas. Better yet, you’ll feel flirty and beautiful to boot!
2. Mixed Prints

Mastering the art of mixing prints is easier than you think! It’s all about staying within the same color family. Once mastered, it’s a clutch way to distract the eye from areas you want to conceal or divert attention from.
3. Vintage High Waisted Shorts
Nothing says you’re more in the fashion know than a great pair of vintage high-waisted shorts. Avoid the possible “mom jean” shape by picking a pair that sits right on your waist and are slightly looser in fit, thus giving your legs a long and elongated effect. Pair with a crisp button down or your favorite crop top to beat the summer heat.
4. A Classic A-Line

A-lines will always be universally flattering. No matter your shape or size, an a-line skirt is a sure thing for complementing your gorgeous figure. Not into longer hemlines? Then go for a short chic jean skirt with a zip or button front, and top it with a vintage band tee or favorite crocheted knit.
5. White Out

While I’m among the growing majority that believes white is allowed year-around. Summertime is officially the prime time to show off your whites from head to toe for a very flattering statement.
6. Vertical Stripes

Vertical stripes are the optical illusion you’ve been needing in your life. When worn in pants, expect your legs to look miles long. If an all over striped look is too much for you than opt for a solid color on top or bottom.
7. The Classic Shirtdress

A classic shirtdress is one item in your closet that’s always chic and perfect for those “grab and go” days. I personally love a great jean shirtdress because the material is a bit stiffer and just hovers over your body. Perfect for avoiding being hugged in those problematic areas. I see you big booty.
8. Buckle Up

Have a favorite belt? Pair it with either high waisted shorts, a midi skirt, or a loose fitted dress to cinch in your waist. Giving your silhouette a perfect hourglass shape. As shown, the double buckle belt is definitely a must this season and is perfect with almost any look.
9. Reinvent the LBD

Black may get a little tired and boring, but it will always be the most slimming color. Up your game by finding a LBD in an interesting shape or one with funky cut-outs like the one modeled above. Breathe new life into a classic while also showing off your stunning figure.
10. A Crop Top for Every Shape

You may be thinking to yourself, “a crop top, really?!” Yes! Crop tops can look great on a wide variety of people. The key is to grab a crop top that comes down to your natural waist, and wear it with a high waisted trouser to match. Also, a little ruffle at the bottom further emphasizes the narrowness of your frame.
11. Wide Leg Jumpsuit

For cool summer night parties, a wide leg jumpsuit in a vibrant color is a must! Stand out amongst the cocktail dresses in a silhouette that lengthens your legs, and stretches your lines to new heights.
12. Color Blocking

Look for pieces that are a bold chuck of color and pair them together. Color-blocking is wonderful for minimizing what’s underneath because the eye is more struck by the color than anything you may be trying to hide.
